Search queries and Google Search Console data
Nook connects to the Google Search Console API to show you exactly which search terms bring visitors to your site. This data is pulled directly from Google and displayed alongside your GA4 metrics.
How GSC data appears in Nook
When you connect a property that has a verified Search Console site, Nook imports historical search data from Google's API (which provides up to 16 months). The amount retained depends on your plan's data retention limit. You will find it in two places:
- Queries tab — a dedicated list of every search term, sortable by clicks, impressions, CTR, or position.
- Pages tab — GSC metrics appear alongside GA4 page data so you can see both traffic and search performance for each URL.
What each metric means
- Clicks — the number of times a user clicked through to your site from Google Search for that query.
- Impressions — the number of times your site appeared in search results for that query, even if the user did not click.
- CTR (click-through rate) — clicks divided by impressions, shown as a percentage. Higher is better.
- Average position — where your site appeared in results on average. Position 1 is the top result. Lower numbers are better.
The branded query filter
Branded queries include your company or domain name (for example, "nook analytics" or "nookanalytics.com"). These typically have high CTR and low position numbers because the searcher already knows your brand.
Nook lets you toggle branded queries on or off so you can focus on non-branded organic discovery. Set your brand terms in the site settings and Nook will filter them automatically.
This is especially useful for understanding how much of your search traffic comes from people who already know you vs. new discovery.
Exporting query data
You can export your full query list as a CSV file from the queries tab. The export includes all columns (query, clicks, impressions, CTR, position) for the selected date range.
